i spent some much needed time away from home with my good friends in atlanta this past weekend. i have been waiting to take pictures of him since he was born almost a year ago.

he isn’t cute at all is he? so sweet and easy going. gotta love boys!

oh how i miss this age.

one big happy family [louisville kentucky family photographer]

i have learned over the past year my niche is photographing families. i love being the invisible element with a camera when people really start being people. it’s magic when everyone gets comfortable and lets me “in” so i can pull out the real, uninhibited personalities with my lens. this was the case with this family. mr. and mrs. moss, in the first photo below, have been so gracious allowing me to come into their home numerous times to photograph one of the grand-daughters, lily, who you can see here and here and here. they asked me to photograph the whole family while everyone was in for christmas. what made them take the time after the stress of the holidays to do this? well because they get it. they understand the importance of having photographs made and i am extremely grateful for that!

see the young lady in the pink sweater? that’s mimi. she’s an amazing woman and the real reason this day happened.

He’s A Doll [Louisville Kentucky Lifestyle Family Photographer]

No really, he is. His name is Wyatt Doll. He is precious, happy, content, easy to please and very cute. We became fast friends. And his mom and dad, some of the most down to earth and laid back people I have ever met. I was very impressed with dad. He e-mailed me to book an appointment. I just love it when father’s take it upon themselves to do something like this for their family.

The one above and the one below are my favorites… she is so real here and also very pretty.

Thanks guys for allowing me to photograph your new family. It was an ABSOLUTE pleasure!

My great-nephew came into our world two weeks ago and I have to say that makes me extremely happy and also extremely freaked-out. I am a great-aunt!!!!!!!!! Which means I may be getting old. Anyway, he is cute, he is cool, he is awesome! I love you lil boy, can’t wait to get to know ya better.

Yep, I did the basket thing. Not my thing, but I did it anyway.

And I like it.

They Grow Like Weeds…..

and if you have been following this little one, you will see it is true. She is unstoppable. Doing so much that is not typical for six months. No big surprise at all, this is the way she has been since birth. Curious, strong-willed, smart, friendly, sure of herself. And I feel that she knows who I am now, which is of great benefit to me. She looks right at the lens and listens to my voice. We have made a “connection,” something that is crucial to great photographs.

The most important part of this was great grandmother being there for a visit. Not planned. And at the end of the “real” pictures, I took some very precious shots. She is a beautiful woman and I can tell she was quite the looker in her younger days. I miss my grandmothers so being around her was a treat.

The best shots always come at the end, just the way it goes.

God-thank you for allowing me to do this. It brings me pure JOY.

This lady has a lot going for her. She made it through four interviews to get on the show She’s Got The Look , not an easy thing to do. She is going places. What an amazing woman, wife and mother and I am so honored she found me and chose me to do her portfolio.

This is a little sneaky peeky for you my dear. There are a lot more where these came from. I had a VERY difficult time choosing what to show for this, all of them are amazing. You are a pro, a natural. What I say is true…..

Double Trouble

Here they are, J and J, born almost two weeks ago. Healthy and ready to take on the world, and Mom and Dad. It took us two days to get these shots. Hard work for everyone involved, but it was absolutely worth it and one day all of us will look back, laugh, cry and be so glad we made it happen. I am lucky to have met this family, and one Grandmother, name to be decided by the babies, but I’m thinking “Babe” may carry on, it is so fitting.

I have favorites from this session, but this one speaks. I didn’t know that I had this when I pressed the shutter. Totally natural, absolutely real! The best kind of photograph in my book.
