When Rylee got home yesterday I said, “Hey- do you feel like some pictures? I feel like some.” She was up for it. Then someone came to the door. And she was up for it too.

No really, he is. His name is Wyatt Doll. He is precious, happy, content, easy to please and very cute. We became fast friends. And his mom and dad, some of the most down to earth and laid back people I have ever met. I was very impressed with dad. He e-mailed me to book an appointment. I just love it when father’s take it upon themselves to do something like this for their family.

The one above and the one below are my favorites… she is so real here and also very pretty.

Thanks guys for allowing me to photograph your new family. It was an ABSOLUTE pleasure!

They Grow Like Weeds…..

and if you have been following this little one, you will see it is true. She is unstoppable. Doing so much that is not typical for six months. No big surprise at all, this is the way she has been since birth. Curious, strong-willed, smart, friendly, sure of herself. And I feel that she knows who I am now, which is of great benefit to me. She looks right at the lens and listens to my voice. We have made a “connection,” something that is crucial to great photographs.

The most important part of this was great grandmother being there for a visit. Not planned. And at the end of the “real” pictures, I took some very precious shots. She is a beautiful woman and I can tell she was quite the looker in her younger days. I miss my grandmothers so being around her was a treat.

The best shots always come at the end, just the way it goes.

God-thank you for allowing me to do this. It brings me pure JOY.

A Family Affair

Families, I have realized are where it’s at for me. I love families and the interaction they have together, in their comfort zone. Happiness, aggravation, laughter, tension, exhaustion, emotions, smiles, jokes, sarcasm, honesty- all of the things that make a family a family. The wonderful thing about a family is the ability to be yourself but still be loved and accepted unconditionally, no matter what your issues are. Blood is thicker than water ya know.

Being a part of other families makes me happy and helps me realize how important mine is. I appreciate SO very much the effort my dad made through the years to have his camera at all times. And for the efforts of all my family members. Even back in the 30′s, 40′s and 50′s. They left memories for me to hold on to and have allowed me to be a part of the past. Only photographs can do that.

One day this family will look back on these photographs and be so thankful they put the effort into making this happen. Although it’s stressful, it’s absolutely necessary. Priceless!

Anchorage Trail has proven to be one of the absolute BEST spots in Louisville to photograph. Whether it’s children and families or nature and landscapes, it has it all. When I hit it big, or win the lottery, sure hope one of those is in my deck of cards, I will be buying a home in Anchorage, Kentucky. A dynamite place in our area.

This cutie pie and her white dress were perfect for the location. She does very well with the camera.Take a looky for yourself.

Love my job! I am a lucky girl.

Old But New

When going through the 50,000 pictures I have of my children, I came across some I had forgotten about or had not seen in awhile. My son NEVER wants his photograph taken and my daughter, well that’s another story. Only when she is ready and willing, not when I have a wave of creative energy and need her to be my muse. I am sure I am not the only one with these issues. Alas…..

These were taken when I was VERY green with my digital camera. I really didn’t know what I was doing at this point, but I was most determined to learn and progress with this insane passion of mine.

Anyone who knows my son, understands this one. He is a t-total goof-ball.

I can be artsy fartsy sometimes. Here is an example. This was taken under the Kentucky Center For Arts after his birthday dinner at Morton’s last year. It actually placed in an art fair awhile back.

She was much younger here, watching something outside of the window ,very focused. I love to see her this way.

I am so very appreciative to have happy and healthy children. God bless those who are not so lucky.

I had an absolute blast with this young, ambitious and happy family. Baby N was not feeling so good. Some teeth decided to invade our time together. A very easy-going little boy, even with teething pain.

I am lucky to be able to do what I do. Never thought in a million years that this would have come my way- a wonderful opportunity. I am truly blessed.

Anyway… here is our story. Well… it’s my story, their lives.

Grandma, who was an art teacher, hand-painted all sorts of aircraft on the walls in Nolan’s bedroom. Very impressive and playful.

This toy plane is too cool. Just look at that sweet face.

Mom loves her boy.

They tell me he is happy like this all of the time. What a joy!

Off to Bowman Field for our trip to Rough River. From start to finish…..

Taking off. The weather was terrific. The color shots are great too, but the black and whites do it for me.

I would fly in this plane over a big one any day. Shelby is a terrific pilot. And Katie may learn too someday.

Love these! I used a 16-35mm 2.8 wide angle, shot at 16mm. Fun lens to play with.

He was wiped out, poor baby.

What a team Shelby and Katie make together. Can’t wait to see what is in store for them. They have a lot to be thankful for and excited about. Thanks for letting me into your world. It was something I will never forget!
